With the voice of an angel and the heart of a poet, Tanya Brody makes both traditional and original songs come to life and touch the soul. A born musician and performer, she understands what it is to tell a story through song and the art of giving life to the words and music that flow from her lips and fingertips. Her traditional repertoire is vast and covers several centuries of traditional Celtic and British folk music. Her original music ranges from songs that sound like they were written hundreds of years ago, to music that sounds like it should be performed by the likes of Taylor Swift and Loreena McKennitt. Her voice has been compared to the latter, as well as to Mary Black, and a member of the heavenly chorus. She accompanies herself on the harp and has played all over the country as a solo performer and as a member of several other groups. People around the world have heard her music, on the radio and via the internet.

As a Harper/Singer/Songwriter from Minneapolis, MN. Tanya has been performing professionally since the age of 6, and playing music either for fun or as her job for most of her life. She as performed all over the world, either as a solo performer or as a member of various other groups during her long musical career. She plays multiple instruments, the primary being the harp, and sings “with the voice of an angel” according to her many fans. She performs both traditional and original music and has 9 albums to her name, 4 of which are solo, the rest are with either The Muses, her professional touring Celtic band, or with Sailor’s Dream, a 3 woman a cappella group.

Tanya cannot remember a time she didn’t sing. Growing up as part of a musical family, it was part of every day life. Instruments quickly followed and Tanya’s life path seemed set.

Tanya spent much of her youth performing in both amateur and professional theaters around Minneapolis. She joined the Bel Canto Voices, a professional girl’s choir, in 1982 and the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, as a musician in 1984. This lead to her joining the local Madrigal group, The Court Revelers, in 1993 and helping to form the entertainer’s cooperative, Entertaining Company in 1997. As part of Entertaining Company, she performed all over the twin cities as a soloist for corporate events, special events and openings, private parties and various other social functions, including the 1998 Chicago Dental Convention.

As life changed and moved on in Tanya’s performing career, she joined the circuit of Renaissance Festivals, traveling from one Festival to another throughout the year. During this time, she formed a three woman a cappella group called Sailor’s Dream and then a Celtic band called The Muses. The Muses went on to be a professional touring band, playing all over the country at Celtic Festivals, Scottish Games, libraries, concerts, pubs and coffee houses. Tanya leant her many years of experience as a performer and arranger as well as a booking agent to The Muses, and as her beautiful voice and song writing talent. Many of The Muses albums include original songs written by Tanya.

Tanya has returned to her roots as a solo performer and to her childhood home of Minnesota, bringing her talent and love of music back to this appreciative audience. People around the world have heard her music, on the radio and via the internet. She hopes to be able to continue creating beautiful sounds to share with all who will listen.
